Retro Rebirth

What’s old is now new again. A rebirth of back-in-the-day styles is on the rise and has been rearing its retro head with a vengeance!  Trust me, there is a real groovy-glam movement going on!  Today’s top designers are redefining the term ‘fashion forward.’ Take advantage of vintage ladies!  I attended a vintage trunk show in the Union Square area hosted by Meghann Early, owner of Pop-Up Vintage (and organizer of meet-up group, The-Pretty-Vintage-Party) and Giana Moloian of The Greedy Seagull.  They did not disappoint.

The shopping:  My eyes went right to the accessory displays. First off, the jewelry… ahh the jewelry!  Delicate pearl necklaces in soft pinks and whites; very Grace Kelly-ish appeal: Purchased!  The ear candy… a pair of clip-ons (yes, I said clip-ons!) that contain all the splendor of royalty; clusters of pearls surrounded by gems of old: Purchased!  And to finish off my neo-nostalgic romp, I added a buttery soft white leather bag to the mix. This piece screams 70s with the extra long strap, the colorful intertwined outer detailing and what’s personally endearing about it is the smart auto-snap shut design; reminds me of my mom’s old bags—a true blast from the past: Purchased!  I was pleasantly winded by the end of the evening. Trust me, I used a lot of restraint not to pick up a real funky chic cashmere vest that hung amongst other elegant pieces. Shouts to Monica, a fierce red head who looked amazing in a black mink stole and black leather lace-up granny booties—very Betty Davis!  In fact this chica was simply stunning in all things old and glam!  Looking forward to the next Pop Up Vintage Trunk Show!
